Starting in Soti Khola, the trail climbs through rhododendron forests and small villages. At Ekle Bhatti, the route turns towards Tsum Valley, leading to Mu Gompa (3,700 m/11,026 ft) and Ranchen Gompa. After retracing your steps to Lokpa, you’ll join the Manaslu Circuit trail.
The trek continues through landslide areas, glaciers, and moraines to Larkya La pass, then descends to Dharapani. Take acclimatization breaks in Sama Gaon (3,520 m/11,548 ft) and Samdo village (3,875 m/12,713 ft). During your rest day in Sama Gaon, hike to Pun Gyen Gompa (4,800 m/15,748 ft) and explore the Pungyen Glacier.
You’ll also visit Manaslu Base Camp (4,400 m/14,435 ft) and marvel at Birendra Lake. From Samdo, a Tibetan refugee village, hike to Rui La Pass (4,998 m/16,398 ft) for acclimatization. Enjoy the isolated trails and breathtaking mountain and glacier views.
The two rest days before crossing Larkya La pass (5,160 m/16,929 ft) are crucial for acclimatization and recovery. The steep and rocky trail to the pass is covered with snow. Once at the top, a stunning mountain panorama awaits. Descend for two days to end the trek in Dharapani (1,860 m/6,100 ft) before driving back to Kathmandu.

Tsum Valley Manaslu Circuit Trek Difficulty and Altitude Sickness:
The Tsum Valley Manaslu Circuit is a challenging trek in Nepal, covering approximately 177 kilometers. The terrain is rugged, steep, and offbeat, with frequent ascents and descents. Starting at 700 meters, you’ll reach a maximum altitude of 5,160 meters.
The high elevation and thin air increase the risk of altitude sickness, making acclimatization essential. Good fitness is required, as daily trekking can last 6 to 7 hours. Trekking in the Himalayas is more demanding than in other mountain ranges, with minimal facilities along the route.
In case of emergency, helicopter evacuation is available. Inform your guide if you feel unwell, and they will provide first aid. If symptoms persist, you may be transferred to a hospital in Kathmandu or Pokhara for further care.

Understanding the trek’s challenges is crucial. Participants must be physically and mentally fit. Long hours of walking on rugged terrain require strong stamina and endurance. Previous trekking experience is recommended.

Itinerary
Kick off your adventure with an early morning drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola. The journey follows the scenic Prithvi Highway, offering breathtaking views of rivers, lush hills, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, and terraced fields. The drive from Arughat to Soti Khola takes about 2 hours on a rugged road.
Begin your trekking journey, ascending to Machha Khola. The trail winds through hillsides and sal forests, crossing multiple suspension bridges. After reaching Lapubesi, descend to a sandy riverbed before ascending to Machha Khola.
Continue trekking upstream along the Thado Khola River to Khorla Besi, a small village with stunning views of Mt. Manaslu and Kutang Himal. Gradually ascend and cross the Budi Gandaki River, climbing staircases to Doban. Cross the Yaru Khola and trek to Thado Bharyang, then ascend to Jagat.
Depart from Jagat and begin your ascent along the riverbank towards Salleri. Traverse the Budhi Gandaki River using an extended suspension bridge before continuing your hike to Philim. The path will then guide you to Ekle Bhatti, after which it turns towards the Tsum Valley. Along the way, you'll pass through several small villages and follow a narrow, steep trail that leads to Lokpa village. Throughout this segment, you'll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Mt. Manaslu.
Trek from Lokpa to Chumling village, ascending steeply through rhododendron and pine forests. The trail offers breathtaking views of Ganesh Himal VI and Boudha Himal. There are no settlements along this stretch.
Ascend to Chhokang Paro, following a steep and rugged route from Chumling. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you enter the Upper Tsum region.
Continue trekking through barren terrain from Chhokang Paro. The trail passes the Milarepa Piren Phu Cave, where the footprint of the famous Tibetan saint Milarepa is said to be preserved. Explore two gompas before ascending and crossing a suspension bridge to Nile village.
Spend the day acclimatizing with a hike to Mu Gompa via the Milarepa Piren Phu Cave.
Descend from Mu Gompa to Phurbe, then take a different route to Chhokang Paro, visiting the ancient Rachen Gompa along the way.
Descend to Chumling early in the morning, following the same trail through forests and farming fields. Enjoy the stunning scenery along the way.
Descend to Lokpa from Chumling, cross a suspension bridge, and continue trekking along rocky trails. Enjoy the excellent view of Mount Shringi as you trek through bamboo forests and terraced fields to reach Deng.
Begin your day with a trek from Deng, crossing a suspension bridge and ascending towards Rana. The trail winds through diverse landscapes, including lush forests and traditional mani stones. Continue trekking to the small settlement of Prok before reaching Namrung village, where you will spend the night.
Embark on a challenging day with a steep ascent to the Lihi settlement, followed by a descent to Simnang Valley. Continue your journey to Sho village, and finally reach Lho, where you will spend the night.
Begin your trek from Lho, ascending through picturesque landscapes towards Sama Gaun. The terrain is steep and rocky, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Take a well-deserved rest day in Sama Gaun. Spend the day exploring the local area, visiting Pun Gyen Gompa, and enjoying the breathtaking mountain vistas. This day is crucial for acclimatization.
Continue your journey from Sama Gaun to Samdo, a village near the Tibetan border. The trek takes you through pastures and across a wooden bridge, offering panoramic views of Simnang Himal, Ngadi Chuli, and Manaslu.
Spend another acclimatization day with a hike to Rui La Pass, one of the highest points in the region. Follow an isolated route and explore an ancient trade path. Spend the rest of the day relaxing in Samdo.
Leave Samdo early and trek to Larke Phedi, also known as Dharamsala. The trail ascends steeply, passing fields and mani walls. Cross a wooden bridge and trek past the Athahra Saya River, following the Larke River and walking up the Larkya Glacier to Larke Phedi.
Start your day early and cross the Larkya La Pass, one of the highlights of the trek. Enjoy stunning views of Himlung Himal, Mt. Kang Guru, Annapurna II, and more. Descend to Bimthang for the night.
Descend from Bimthang to Dharapani, trekking through lush rhododendron forests and passing through several small settlements. The journey includes crossing the Dudh Koshi River twice.
After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu. The journey includes a scenic drive through the countryside. Spend the evening in Kathmandu and join us for a farewell dinner to celebrate your trek.
