What to Expect on the 17-Day Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu Trek
This trek takes you north of Kathmandu, starting from Syabrubesi and heading to Langtang Valley. The trail passes through dense forests and villages such as Lama Hotel (2,350 m/7,710 ft), Langtang Village (3,307 m/10,850 ft), and Kyanjin Gompa (3,749 m/12,300 ft). Tserko Ri (5,033 m/16,512 ft) is the highest point you’ll reach in Langtang Valley.
After returning to Lama Hotel, you’ll trek to Gosaikunda Lake. This part of the trail is steep and rocky, requiring extra caution. Spend the night at Gosaikunda Lake (4,381 m/14,373 ft) and immerse yourself in the region’s rich culture. Continue to Laurebina La pass (4,609 m/15,121 ft) and descend to Ghopte Odar (3,566 m/11,699 ft).
You’ll then trek through the Helambu region, with trails ascending and descending through terraced farms, beautiful villages, and dense forests. Stay overnight in Kutumsang (2,445 m/8,021 ft), Gul Bhanjyang (2,125 m/6,972 ft), and Chisapani (2,195 m/7,210 ft). The trek concludes in Sundarijal, from where you’ll drive back to Kathmandu.
Throughout the trek, you may spot wildlife such as red pandas, musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, snow leopards, Ghoral, serow, and Daphne, though sightings are rare. The landscapes vary, and you’ll see mountains like Shishapangma (8,027 m/26,335 ft), Langshisha Ri (6,427 m/21,086 ft), Langtang Lirung (7,234 m/23,734 ft), Gangchempo (6,387 m/20,925 ft), and Ganesh Himal (7,422 m/24,350 ft).
Tamang and Hyolmo Communities

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representatives will warmly welcome you and escort you to your hotel in Thamel, a bustling tourist area in Kathmandu. They will assist you with your luggage. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore Thamel and its vibrant surroundings.
Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel. Around 7:00 - 8:00 AM, your tour guide will pick you up for a guided tour of Kathmandu's most iconic sites. Visit the ancient Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), the serene Bouddhanath Stupa, the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, and the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square. After a day of exploration, return to the hotel for a trek briefing and final preparations.
Depending on the size of your group, we will arrange a comfortable four-wheeler for the scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. As you leave the city behind, enjoy the picturesque landscapes of rural Nepal, passing through small towns and along rivers. Arrive in Syabrubesi and check into your guesthouse for the night.
Begin your trek with a descent to the Bhote Kosi River, followed by a rugged path along the Langtang Khola. Pass through lush forests and charming villages before ascending to Lama Hotel. Enjoy the stunning natural beauty and the warm hospitality of the local people.
Continue your journey along the Langtang River, gradually ascending through a forested route. Along the way, take in breathtaking views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung. After a lunch break at Ghoda Tabela, cross the east side of the Langtang River and trek to Langtang Village, where you will spend the night.
Trek to Kyanjin Gompa, the last settlement in the Langtang Valley and a significant religious site. Follow an uphill route through forests and uneven hillsides, enjoying panoramic mountain views. Along the way, pass ancient stupas, chortens, and mani walls.
Spend the day acclimatizing with a morning hike to Tserko Ri. The steep and rocky trail offers stunning sunrise views and panoramic vistas of Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, Langtang Lirung, and Yala Peak. After the hike, return to Kyanjin Gompa and visit a local cheese factory.
After a delicious breakfast, descend back to Lama Hotel via Langtang Village. The trail winds through lush forests and small villages, offering stunning mountain views and landscapes.

Trek through a forest of rhododendrons, pine, and oak, enjoying stunning views of Ganesh Himal and Manaslu. Gradually ascend above the treeline to Lauribina, then climb to Gosaikunda Lake. Visit other nearby lakes like Saraswati Kund and Bhairav Kund.
Start early from Gosaikunda Lake and ascend a small ridge to Surya Kund Lake. Continue along a winding trail to Laurebina La Pass, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas. Descend to Phedi and trek through a lush forest to Ghopte Odar.

After breakfast, trek through lovely villages and terraces to Pati Bhanjyang, a three-hour walk. From here, ascend to Chisapani Danda, a famous village near Kathmandu known for its beautiful sunrise and panoramic views of the Himalayan range.
Today marks the end of your trek. Trek from Chisapani to Sundarijal, passing through lush forests and charming villages. From Sundarijal, take a local jeep back to Kathmandu. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or shopping. In the evening, join us for a farewell dinner to celebrate your adventure.
