Gosaikunda Lake Pass and Helambu Trek
The Gosaikunda Lauribina Pass trek is a brief yet exhilarating adventure in the Langtang and Helambu regions. This trek takes you through forested paths and across various Tamang and Hyolmo villages. Spanning 9 days, it commences with a picturesque drive from Kathmandu. You’ll find yourself immersed in nature, enjoying stunning mountain vistas, exploring the sacred Gosaikunda Lake, crossing the Lauribina Pass, and wandering through the verdant meadows of Helambu. This journey promises to be life-changing.
This trek explores two stunning regions—Langtang and Helambu—both conveniently located near Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital. Unlike the more popular Everest and Annapurna regions, Langtang sees fewer trekkers, preserving its pristine and untouched beauty.
If you have an additional 4 to 6 days to spare, we highly recommend our Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu trek package, which also includes the Langtang Valley.

What to Expect on the Gosaikunda Lake Trek
If you’re looking to avoid the crowds of the Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp trails, consider the 9-day Gosaikunda Lauribina Pass trek. Starting from Dhunche, you’ll ascend along a steep, rugged route to Gosaikunda Lake, a pilgrimage site in Nepal. From there, you’ll cross a mountain pass connecting the Langtang and Helambu regions.
The initial days of the trek are spent within Langtang National Park, where you’ll encounter various types of vegetation, flowers, birds, and butterflies. You might also spot langur monkeys and blue sheep. Discover the lifestyle, culture, and practices of the Tamang community, an indigenous group.
After crossing the pass, the trail leads through remote villages, meadows, and dense forests, all protected under Shivapuri National Park. Trekking past Hyolmo communities, you’ll descend to Sundarijal, where the trek concludes. The Hyolmo people, another indigenous community in Nepal, follow Tibetan Buddhism and incorporate elements of animism and paganism.
Throughout the trek, you’ll be treated to awe-inspiring mountain landscapes, with majestic views of peaks such as Ganesh Himal (7,422 m/24,350 ft), Gaurisanker (7,134 m/23,405 ft), Langtang Lirung (7,234 m/23,734 ft), Scout Peak (5,710 m/18,733 ft), Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m/22,854 ft), Ganchhenpo (6,387 m/20,955 ft), Shishapangma (8,027 m/26,335 ft), and many others.
