Kailash Mansarovar Expedition
This journey is tailored for travelers keen on exploring the southwestern part of Tibet, without including Lhasa in the itinerary. It features a sacred walk around Mount Kailash and a two-night stay beside Lake Mansarovar, offering ample time for spiritual practices. This route is perfect for those on a spiritual quest, allowing them to experience one of the world’s holiest sites. The tour is open to everyone, regardless of their faith, as long as they show respect for others.
In the remote western region of Tibet stands Mount Kailash, revered as Asia’s most sacred peak by Buddhists, Hindus, and adherents of Tibet’s ancient Bon religion. Pilgrims from these faiths undertake a 53km trek around the mountain. Buddhists and Hindus walk clockwise, while Bon followers move counterclockwise. It is believed that completing this circuit can cleanse one’s sins. The mountain, towering at 6714 meters, is a breathtaking sight with its sheer cliffs and snow-covered summit.
The expedition starts with a drive from Kathmandu to the Tibet border at Timmure, followed by a crossing of the expansive Tibetan Plateau to Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash.
