Mountain Flights in Nepal – A Scenic Experience

Take to the skies for an unforgettable journey over the Himalayas with Lama Treks And Expeditions. Our mountain flight gives you a close-up view of the tallest and most famous peaks in the world—all from the comfort of a 16-seater plane. Departing from Kathmandu, this one-hour flight offers a breathtaking panoramic experience you’ll never forget.

As the flight heads east, the first giant you’ll spot is Shisha Pangma (8,013m). Just beyond the sacred lakes of Gosaikunda, you’ll see Dorje Lakpa (6,966m), followed by Phurbi Chyachu, standing tall above the Kathmandu Valley.

The peaks seem to come closer as the plane glides smoothly. Next, you’ll see Choba Bhamare (5,933m), one of the smallest but striking mountains. Not far behind is the holy Gauri Shankar (7,134m), named after the deities Shiva and Gauri. This mountain stood unclimbed until 1979 and is known for its spiritual importance as well as its beauty.

Flying further into the eastern Himalayas, you’ll see Melungtse (7,023m), shaped like a plateau, and the untouched Chugimago (6,297m), which remains unclimbed. Numbur (6,956m), often associated with the Sherpas of Solukhumbu, resembles a nurturing symbol of nature, said to represent a mother’s breast.

Soon, Karyolung (6,511m) appears, glowing bright white under the morning sun. Then comes Cho-Oyu (8,201m), the sixth tallest mountain in the world, stunning in its sheer size and symmetry.

Not far from it is the challenging Gyachung Kang (7,952m), followed by Pumori (7,161m). As the plane gets closer to Everest, you’ll see Nuptse (7,855m), whose name means “West Peak” in relation to Everest. Finally, the mighty Mount Everest (8,848m) stands right before you. Known as Sagarmatha in Nepali and Chomolungma in Tibetan, seeing it face-to-face is truly beyond words—an awe-inspiring moment that stays with you forever.
